Responsibilities
- Demonstrates competency of all rehabilitation tasks assigned.
- Transports residents to and from the Rehabilitation Department for scheduled treatments in a safe and timely manner as requested.
- Assists with resident treatments assigned under the direct supervision of the licensed therapist.
- Reports changes in tolerance or medical status prior to each treatment to the supervising therapist.
- Confers formerly and informally with other team members in coordinating the administrative functions of patient care.
- Attends required in-service meetings and facility meetings as required.
- Performs the operation of rehabilitation equipment for which training has been received and competency demonstrated.
- Maintains departmental equipment and supplies in a neat, orderly and safe manner.
- Performs department secretarial functions as directed.
- Adheres to department procedures regarding documentation of services.
- Assists with billing and clinical documentation processes as requested.
- Reports to work on time and adheres to schedule, maintaining work efficiency during assigned shift.
- Complies with all Infection Control, Universal Precautions, and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.
- Maintains appropriate relationship and rapport with coworkers, residents, family members and facility personnel.
- Assists with and participates in quality assurance programs as required.
- Adheres to established confidentiality standards.
Qualifications
- Certified Nurse’s Assistant, or currently enrolled in a therapy program (e.g. PTA or COTA school), or as qualified by state statutes regulating PT, OT, and ST aides.
- High School diploma or Graduate Equivalency Degree, or as required by state statutes.
- Previous experience in long term care preferred.
