Metal Model Maker Role

The Sheet Metal Model Maker is responsible for fabricating prototype stamping, automotive build, and assembly metal products – such as framework or shells for machinery, metal component parts for automotive and consumer goods according to job order, verbal instructions, and blueprints. They also develop the layout and plan the sequence of operations.

Position Responsibilities:

• Plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal parts, equipment, and products.
• Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating and assembling.
• Sets up the operation of fabricating machines (i.e., shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, and routers, to cut, bend, block and form, or straighten materials).
• Shapes metal material over anvil, block, or other form using hand tools.
• Trims, files, grinds, deburrs, buffs, and smooth's surfaces using hand tools and portable power tools.
• Qualifies details in supportive framework according to blueprints using hand tools, power tools, and lifting and handling devices.

Minimum Requirements:

• 1-2 years previous experience working with sheet metal, or exhibit the aptitude for being trained into the position.
• The ability to use basic measurement equipment (i.e., calipers, micrometers and other equipment as necessary).
• Inspects details for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as calipers, scales, gauges, and micrometers.
• Has the ability to lift 30 lbs.
• Has the ability to communicate effectively.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

• Direct hire
• Full Time
• Weekdays:
• 2nd Shift: 3:30 PM - 12 AM / 5:30 PM - 4 AM
• Weekends (if scheduled):
• 2nd Shift: 12 PM - 6 PM

Work Environment

Work is performed mostly in a manufacturing and or factory setting. Individuals will be regularly exposed to noise and moving mechanical parts.
