Founded in 1973 by two former U.S. Forest Service employees who saw a need for a company that uniquely understood Forest Service projects, DJ&A has continued to grow and expand over the last 48 years by embracing the values of our founders. Job Summary

DJ&A is seeking a Controller with 10 years of experience in managing the financial operations of a company. This position is responsible for performing and managing duties of the accounting department, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, posting to the general ledger, tax audits, and utilizing Ajera’s computerized accounting and project management system. The ideal candidate will have extensive management experience and practical experience in accounting, financial reporting, and staff development.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

· Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.

· Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

· Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.

· Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.

· Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.

· Prepares and works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.

· Files quarterly and annual reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

· Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.

· Coordinates with Senior Leadership Team and Board of Directors on company financial reporting.

· Works closely with the company CEO to set and achieve company financial goals.

· Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

· Experience with Deltek Ajera Accounting and Project Management software a plus.

· Excellent management and supervisory skills.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Excellent organizational and time management skills.

· Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.

· Accounting certification (CMA or CPA) is a plus.

· Ten years or more of related experience required.

· Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working at a computer.

· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

· Able to travel as needed.
