Summary: The Corporate Event Manager based in St. Augustine, FL or Allentown, PA supports DLP Capital with strategic in-person and virtual event planning and execution. This role specifically works closely with the Marketing and Sales teams, with the opportunity to interact with the rest of the organization. The Corporate Event Manager leverages expertise in project management and event execution, superior problem-solving and interpersonal skills, complemented with a passion for excellence to create and execute on DLP Capital's overall brand and vision.
What you have already achieved: (Requirements)
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Hospitality, Meeting and Event Services, and/or Convention Services required
- A minimum of 2 years of leadership experience required
- Must have excellent knowledge and a high level of experience in hospitality, catering and events
- Strong organizational skills, able to multi-task and coordinate all aspects of event planning
- Must have the ability to work independently, problem solve, troubleshoot, effectively prioritize work and accurately meet deadlines
- Must be computer literate including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google
- Ability to communicate effectively with Team Members, management, clients and vendors
- Able to work a flexible schedule in order to accommodate business levels and event schedule
- Drive additional revenue through proven upsell techniques with the ability to meet upsell goals
- Extensive property product knowledge, i.e., staffing, operations, safety, security, structural, terminology, fire, police and health codes, property policies, city ordinances
- Extensive knowledge of the property structure/layout and how all departments interact
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude
- Must have a positive attitude about service, teamwork and motivation to go above and beyond
- Must be accountable and have the ability to work independently or in a team setting
- Ability to respond quickly to situations and provide strong problem-solving skills
What you are great at: (Responsibilities)
- Lead the event planning, production and management for DLP internal and external events including conferences, trade shows, dinners, and special events
- Collaborate with Marketing and business-unit leaders to elevate the overall level of events
- Develop and communicate project plans for each event. Deliver against established milestones to achieve team and stakeholder goals, contributing to a long-term strategic vision and process development to ultimately drive additional attendance at events
- Efficiently utilize templates and established processes to increase the operational effectiveness of each event, both from the client experience and internal team performance
- Properly negotiate vendor costs while mitigating event liabilities and maximizing overall ROI
- Plan and negotiate events across the DLP footprint in a timely manner, efficiently managing short term requests including partner dinners, Inner Circle events, conferences and company outings
- Lead sourcing and booking of all venues, including but not limited to food and beverage, A/V, transportation, decor and accommodations, maintain and strengthen existing partnerships
- Maintain an industry knowledge to secure keynote speakers to cultivate a conference agenda and manage speaker needs including A/V requirements, collateral, bio/headshot and travel arrangements
- Take an active role in internal and external Membership brainstorming to deliver WOW Experiences to members
- Provide strategic input, recommendations and debriefs to business groups on event development
- Cultivate and maintain partnering relationships with external business partners such as catering, conference services, audio visual, security and facilities
- Develop clear and concise budgets, banquet event orders and production schedules that communicate the requirements for each event and maintain ongoing communication with the event team relating to changes as appropriate
