Local Unit & Position Description
DNV Maritime Area Middle East & Africa is looking for a candidate to assume the position of District Manager with at least 10 years of experience within the maritime industry, preferably from a class society to join our team.
The district covers Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman. The position will be based in Kuwait initially; however mobility is required to potentially move to other locations such as Qatar or Saudi Arabia at a later stage, depending on business needs and priorities.
The position offers the candidate a unique opportunity to join a rapidly growing team in a transforming district with numerous exciting opportunities. It reports to the Area Manager Middle East & Africa.
Your Responsibilities:
Operations:
- Responsibility for the implementation of new initiatives and tools for the district in close alignment with the Region strategy and Annual Operating Plan
- Collaborate seamlessly with Area and Region QHSE&P
- Actively build relations with key decision makers and influencers in the customers’ organization, enabling deep understanding and foresight of customers’ needs.
- Participate in sales & marketing activities and capture opportunities through customer meetings, market news and after-sales action reviews.
- Ensure strong collaboration and competence management of all surveyors
- Continuously review and improve operations as well as coordinate, support, and follow-up within District team
- Ensure that the required competence and resources are available on survey requests
- Ownership of the District Annual Operating Plan, KPI's, QPI's, etc.
Leadership and Human Resources:
- Establish and maintain a trustful collaboration across Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia considering local culture and history
- Develop local talents and build succession
- Coach, motivate and engage all staff in the District
- Execute and monitor leadership and HR management according to the DNV People Policy and relevant instructions
- Challenge, facilitate, support, and follow up the performance as well as the individual development plans
- Continuously review and develop the District based on the market, production, and people situation
Quality, Production and HSE:
- Execute and monitor leadership and QHSE&P management in the District according to the DNV QHSE&P Policy and relevant instructions
- Plan, co-ordinate, support, follow-up and improve the QHSE&P activities
- Ensure that annual QHSE&P review is performed
- Challenge, facilitate, support, and follow up the safety, health and environmental attitudes and behaviour
- Encourage, plan, coordinate, support, and follow-up the quality improvement work
- Ensure that the required competence and capacity is available to conduct the District operations with the required quality, and that (where applicable) mandatory competence schemes are adhered to
- Ensure verification of the quality of work performed according to relevant standards
Finance:
- Plan, co-ordinate, support, follow-up and improve the financial performance of the District to ensure long-term sustainable operations, including Account Receivables
- Ensure and monitor accurate budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting
- Ensure and monitor compliance with legal requirements as defined by DNV and local legislations.
- Be a strong sparring partner for the Area Manager & Area BD Manager and must understand and lead the strategic ambitions of DNV Maritime.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Naval Architecture / Marine Engineering from a Technical University
- Minimum 10 years of experience within the maritime industry, preferably from a class society
- Commercial awareness and a customer-centric mindset
- Good analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
- Proven record of working internationally and with different cultures and languages will be added advantage
