What you'll do
In the role of Platform Identity Engineering Manager, you will lead the team that is responsible for DocuSign's high-volume, low-latency organization management services. Come help build a highly scalable, performant, available, and secure global service.
The DocuSign Identity team builds and operates authentication and authorization services, manages user and organization data, and protects services from abuse. The scope includes securely storing organization data in a distributed system and enabling connections between components across DocuSign.
You will be successful in this role if you are a critical thinker with the ability to quickly understand existing systems, architect distributed systems, mentor and gain respect from the team, and work in agile environments. You are someone that can take smart and educated risks.
This position is a people manager role reporting to the Sr. Manager, Software Engineering.
Responsibility
- Manage and mentor a team of engineers responsible for DocuSign Identity platform
- Hire, grow and lead a world class engineering team as a magnet for hiring and developing great talent
- Dive deep into technology and be the forefront of the latest tools, technologies, and strategies to help evaluate, prototype, and introduce them to our team
- Work with Product Management and other teams to understand and translate marketing requirements into design requirements and provide estimates for development
- Drive product simplification and increased customer adoption
- Build for reliability, availability and security of a Tier 0, mission critical service and system
- Be responsible for several V1 initiatives to improve and unlock new and innovative use cases for our customers
- Deliver products that delight customers while managing the health of the code base through continuous refactoring and management of technical debt
- Provide mentorship and leadership in software best practices, automated test strategies, and work toward flattening the cost of change curve for our software products and services
- Have a demonstrated track record of building hard-working, secure applications and building security into the DNA of products
- Identify inefficiencies in design and architecture and drive to eliminate them while increasing security and stability for current customers
- Create applications and services that will enable the transparent use of identity and authorization services, driving innovation and standardizing the technical stack, while migrating the legacy systems to Public Cloud
Job Designation
Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring
Basic
- 5 years of combined software development and management experience across multiple languages and frameworks
- 5 years of hands-on software development
- 3 years of managing software organizations over 6 people
Preferred
- Experience managing engineering teams that deliver platform solutions that are functional, secure, scalable, and reliable
- Previous work in authentication, authorization, identity, or service and data protection areas
- Track record of shipping high-quality product features on schedule
- Knowledge and experience in high scale, highly available (99.99 ) Cloud services
- Demonstrated track record leading geographically dispersed teams
- Abilities include language, framework and toolset agnostic, having worked in at least 3 languages or paradigms
- Experience with REST API abstraction layers in complex enterprise environments with SOA and ROA
- Experience with large complex data ecosystems and data quality and lifecycle issues
- A demonstrated track record of being a change agent, leaving every team and process better than you found it
- Experience with CSS, AJAX, JSON, HTML, and/or MVC
- Experience with Microsoft technology stack (.NET, C#, SQL Server, etc.) SaaS or Cloud experience
Wage Transparency
Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:
California: $146,800.00 - $235,025.00 base salary
Washington: $139,800.00 - $207,325.00 base salary
