What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dog Bather position at Dog Grooming Shop?
We are looking to hire a Dog Bather.
The position is 30-40 hours a week- start time 7:30/8:00 A.M.(TBA) to 4:30/5:00 PM (TBA)Tue. - Sat. No Sundays or Mondays.

Bathing dogs is a labor of love! You will need patience, aptitude, and a true love for dogs to provide a positive experience for dogs that may not enjoy baths, while getting dogs extremely clean! This is a physically demanding job in which you will deal with dirt, poop, urine, slobber, and stink - and sanitizing sprays and cleansers - on a daily basis. There will be noise. We work as a team, play music, joke around, and love and cuddle dogs, all while working hard.
We train all of our employees from the beginning, starting at the entry level position of bathing/receptionist. All of our groomers have started as bathers/and or receptionists in our shop. As time, aptitude and business allow, there will be opportunities to learn and use additional grooming skills- if you want to!
Essential Qualifications:
The desire to build a career in the dog grooming business.
A true love for, comfort with and care for the well-being of dogs.
The ability to have a positive, friendly, and professional attitude and behavior towards clients, dogs and employees- even when you do not feel like it!
The ability to communicate effectively and efficiently verbally, in writing, by phone and through the computer.
You must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver over 45 lbs of dog, often wet and wiggly.
You will need to be able to lift, bend, reach, twist, and otherwise maneuver yourself and dogs.
You must be able to stand for long periods of time - 4-5 hours.
Self-motivated in taking the initiative to continually learn and help those around you.
The ability to work with minimal supervision.
Detail oriented. Organized.
The ability to prioritize tasks.
Legible handwriting.
Experience working in a team environment.
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
Professional experience working in a team environment.
Professional experience providing miscellaneous support to other employees.
Professional experience moving from task to task without direction.
Experience handling dogs, monitoring dog interaction, working with dogs of various sizes in a multi -dog environment.
The proven ability to work independently.
Some college or post high school education.
Job Responsibilities :
Bathing and drying dogs.
Externally expressing anal glands.
Cleaning, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, take out garbage, ect.
Help to clean up after dogs "accidents." Everyone helps.
Help to monitor dog interaction and react quickly, if safe.
Filling supplies.
Taking leashes, collars, and harnesses off and putting on dogs.
If necessary, brushing, ear cleaning, nails.
This is a Tue. through Sat. position. It is fine to ask for the occasional Sat. (or other day) off. Benefits include paid vacation and 4 paid holidays, free shop uniforms of t-shirt and pants, free grooming benefits for your dogs, a fridge stocked with soda, snacks, and a shop lunch once or twice a month. You can expect a raise of a minimum of 3% at least once every 12 months of work. We sometimes give raises early, or more often, as your personal productivity and business allows. Raises are given at 3 months and 6 months after start date.
Credit Card tips averaged at 4.19 per hour for the last 3 months. Tips start slowly, as you are trained, and can take a month until full potential is reached. So, at about a month, you can reasonably expect to be making about 12.50 4.19= 16.69 per worked hour, plus a little.
