We have an exciting opportunity for a Safety Coordinator in Houston, Texas
Job Summary : The overall purpose of this position is to provide leadership and support to develop and administer an effective and proactive program to eliminate loss events in the workplace.
This position will ensure compliance with applicable Perdue, local, state, and federal policies, procedures, and regulations.
Requires 25-30% travel in the Texas Gulf Coast region.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Advise, support, and promote effective Health and Safety Management programs.
- Maintain an awareness of regulatory issues and industry best practices and ensure compliance with internal policy / procedure and external regulatory requirements.
- Assist in developing the Health and Safety Strategic Plans and performance measurements. Create reports and documentation as necessary.
- Plan, develop, track, and conduct safety training sessions. Coordinate special emphasis actions.
- Lead and assist in developing goals, strategies, and tactics to accomplish safety plans. Communicate the status of safety performance against identified goals and standards to the Director of EHS
- Injury and Auto claims reporting
- Perform other tasks as assigned from the EHS Department
- Conduct regular EHS inspections and, if needed, make necessary corrections to address any identified concerns.
- Assist with incident response; actively participate in all injury, property and vehicular investigations; and assist in compiling and submitting all internal and external incident reporting.
- Compile and maintain all EHS records and performance tracking in accordance with all applicable federal, state, local and company guidelines.
- Deliver, and assist in the creation, of Safety and Environmental training to maintain the appropriate safety standards throughout the assigned facilities.
- Participate in emergency preparedness planning and response activities.
- Provide guidance to management and employees regarding the appropriate practices to comply with all regulatory and company requirements.
- Participate in creating and submitting permit applications and reports as required by environmental agencies.
Experience Requirements :
- 1-3 years of experience
- Understanding of mechanic service repair facilities
- Understanding of warehouse / parts facilities
- Understanding of OSHA laws, regulations, and requirements
- Understanding of Worker's Compensation laws and regulations
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills
- Understanding of standard software applications
Travel Requirements : 25%-30%
Minimum Education :
Associate degree in Safety, Business Management, or related field. In the absence of a degree, directly related work experience may be considered.
