What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Trainer- NJ Market position at Dogtopia?

As a part of the field leadership team, the Field Training Manager works directly with the field teams to improve customer service behaviors, safety, and operational processes to impact results. They are also a key driver of ensuring proprietary development programs are utilized to promote leadership growth for the store teams, ensure that training and development are completed using assigned metrics, and be a continuous champion for process improvement. In partnership with the VP of Operations and local District, Area, and General Manager teams, the Field Training Manager can identify gaps in behaviors and processes and work directly with the teams for improvement. They are results-driven and can be counted on to exceed goals with integrity. The Field Training Manager works directly with the Area Manager and VP of Operations on the strategic development of their districts to positively impact profit, people, pets, and processes. The Field Training Manager must have competencies in customer focus, change & innovation, business acumen, strategic thinking, implementation/facilitation, relationship building & influencing, and talent management.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field required.
  • At least five years of experience in a management or training role.
  • Multi-unit management training experience preferred.
  • Prior large franchise experience and success preferred.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking up to 8 hours.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting in front of a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.

Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with Franchisor corporate training team, VP of Operations, Area Manager, and GMs oversees boot camp training and staff training for all new store openings
  • Travels to and implements process improvements at multiple stores within assigned geography. Oversees process improvements.
  • Reviews and corrects process and policy improvements for all Dogtopia required training and Red Barn Dog Holdings, LLC and its subsidiary entity policies and procedures.
  • Ensures training compliance within assigned guidelines at 100% at all times. Creates plan for improvement to adherence below standard for all proprietary and corporate training.
  • In partnership with the operations support team, gathers and formalizes store-level processes to create and update field materials including checklists, playbooks, and one-sheets.
  • Delivers and trains teams on processes and standards in playbooks to every daycare, including follow-up for compliance.
  • Regularly reviews franchisor-provided materials for implementation and expansion to ensure they uphold RBDO’s standards of practice.
  • Directly responsible for overseeing new General Manager training, including training timelines, DogtopiaConnect modules and management, in-store training, and readiness for their own daycare.
  • Flexes resources, processes, and behaviors to maximize efficiency in each location.
  • Partners with store and corporate leaders to appropriately prioritize and flex workload to maximize store performance. Communicates area of deficiency and proactively works with the GM team to solve issues.
  • Conducts training in all locations at regularly scheduled intervals.
  • Communicates direction, process, and strategy to General Managers in the stores to ensure maximum efficiency to reflect successful local KPIs.
  • Work with area and store leadership to identify sales behavior opportunities and identify training initiatives to develop the appropriate skill sets needed by the team.
  • Collaborate with training store managers to ensure new hire training is completed for compliance and effectiveness. Work directly with hiring managers to assist in the transition of new employees and follow up on new hire performance post-training.
  • Provides feedback and insight into the performance of General Managers and the store teams to Area Managers and the VP of Operations.
  • Solicits and shares feedback to identify best practices and communicates up and down the organizational structure to improve performance and profitability.
  • Collaborates with and informs the VP of Operations of overall regional performance to ensure alignment of expectations.
  • Partner with general managers in each location on operational objectives to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Fosters an environment of cross-organizational collaboration, inclusiveness, information-sharing, and problem-solving.
  • Structures messages in a clear, logical, and consistent manner using the most appropriate communication medium.
  • Provides coaching and counseling to assist others in identifying training or experiences needed to grow professionally and advocates for team members’ career progressions.
  • Identifies and develops key talents.
  • Serves as a role model by establishing and adhering to high ethical standards.
  • Prioritizes safety in all locations for both pets and team members.
  • Leads team inappropriately enforcing policies and procedures, ensuring understanding from all team members.
  • Demonstrates commitment to exceptional internal and external service excellence through reinforcing communications and learning opportunities.
  • Establishes and upholds high personal standards for individual work and environment.
  • Demonstrates a history of effective decision-making and coaches others in making good decisions.
  • Responsible for overseeing the training program at the flagship training location for all RBDO entities, and ensuring one hundred percent adherence to all company standards in that location, at all times in partnership with local GM.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Type:

  • Ability to travel up to 100% of the time to multiple states/geographies within the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region.
  • Ability to travel weekly to alternate locations to oversee local training.
  • Must have experience/passion for the pet industry, as well as demonstrated experience as a multi-unit trainer.
  • Must love working with dogs and developing teams to live their most exciting day ever!
