Door Refinishing GENERAL MANAGER

You’ll build relationships with clients, champion exceptional customer service, lead your associates, and drive results to grow the business.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As our Door Refinishing General Manager, you will:

  • Onboard all new associates and trades person’s, ensuring their completion of all training requirements and annual safety certifications, any required certifications by the state, and ensuring that each finisher represents the brand in a positive way according to our standards.
  • Ensure that finishers are performing door refinishing services to brand standards and to client’s personal preferences and hold your refinishers to those same standards
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of every person and associate and taking immediate action whenever necessary
  • Develop your leadership skills as a General Manager in a mobile business and brick and mortar setting

Key Accountabilities

The incumbent must be able to consistently perform all the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Sanding, stripping, staining and varnishing Doors.:

Ensure the safety, health and well-being of employees by making sure all staff are following Door Renew standards, policies and procedures. Exhibits a high level interest in employee welfare. Ensure that all refinishing staff follow client’s instructions and/or

Door refinishing/Standards when refinishing doors. Provides courteous service to all clients by utilizing intent behaviors in the clients home. Reviews guest experience surveys & results as the General Manager and work with shop staff to develop action plans.

Refinishing partners::

Professionally manages staff who perform services including sanding, staining, stripping, and varnishing doors, sidelights, and transoms.. Directly supervises all other shop partners. Recruiting and hiring shop partners, and develops a team focused on building long-term guest relationships. Identifies and communicates all situations and/or conditions that negatively affect the Door Renew shop to the General Manager and/or

Leader on Duty. Applies a talent management skill set within the scope of recruiting, hiring, training, work scheduling, coaching, safety procedures and succession planning.

Partner experience focusing on the quality of work and the satisfaction of the client.

Operations

Supervises the daily operations of the Door Renew operation. Reviews all partners’ paperwork(s) daily to ensure the proper hours worked are accurately recorded.

Orders supplies as necessary for the shop and properly maintains all tools and equipment required to perform services. Assists with building the business (IE:

Reminder calls, Greeting guests at their home and or during events to promote services). Adheres to and promotes established safety procedures and maintenance of

clean, safe and healthy environment for shop partners, and guests. Interacts professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with internal and external partners and guests. Ensures that the shop is staffed and properly trained to offer services during all hours of operations. Work with owner and home office on proper scheduling within the shop, to include days, evenings and weekends Meets sales projections, controls payroll and expenses to meet target, maintains daily and weekly records, schedules appointments, assists in preparation of bi-weekly work schedule. Analyzes reports to assess the state of the business and develops action plans to improve where needed to achieve targets and goals. Performs activities to maintain a knowledge and understanding of Store Sales, performance and data.

Demonstrates a strong sense of ownership and a commitment to achieving results. Sets challenging, clear goals for himself/herself as well as partners to achieve business metrics. Drives business initiatives to successful completion. Takes personal responsibility to make decisions and take action.

Communication: Listens carefully and attentively to others opinions and ideas.

Communicates information clearly, concisely, and professionally. Provides appropriate

level of detail in communications. Proactively shares timely updates and information with partners.

Analyses: Utilizes all available tools and resources to analyze business performance.

Identifies key issues and implements a plan of action to correct as required.

Engage and Inspire: Energizes others by clarifying the broader purpose and mission of their work. Demonstrate can-do spirit, a sense of optimism, ownership and commitment.

Encourages high standards of performance, acknowledges other’s efforts and accomplishments.

Talent Enhancement: Identifies and recruits/refers to qualified people. Makes accurate evaluations of people’s capabilities and fit. Provides coaching and guidance where appropriate to enhance other’s skills development.

Nature of Supervision

General instruction and/or functional guidance is provided on some, but not all tasks to be performed. For the most part, daily responsibilities will be carried out with little or no direct interaction with the supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibility

Directly supervise all shop partners. Provide guidance and training to refinishing staff.

Test potential applicants for refinishing procedures and evaluate skills on other job related tasks. Complete performance evaluations for all mobile shop partners.

Education and Experience

Minimum high school diploma (its equivalency i.e. GED) or the equivalent work experience. Some college level business/management courses are preferred. 5 years’ experience in woodworking is preferred. Experience supervising partners, or demonstrating an aptitude for training, motivation and sales techniques, and analytical abilities is preferred. Minimum two years’ experience in all construction is required.

Experience monitoring and providing direction to shop partners is preferred. Previous supervisory experience and prior retail experience are preferred.

Work Environment

The majority of job duties are conducted indoors in the shop. Position requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds) and standing for long periods of time. A large amount of this partner’s time will be spent in direct contact with our guests.The work environment can be noisy and dusty.. Improper use of safety equipment and/or not following proper lifting techniques may pose a risk of injury to customers, and shop personnel. Follow all safety precautions and procedures.

Contacts

This position has continuous contact with the general public at the shop and at store-related events, and regular contact and exchange of information with other departments both in the field and at the Support Center(s). Contact outside of Door

Renew may be required in order to coordinate merchandise returns, ordering parts, shop repairs, coordination of local events, vendor meetings, etc.
