Accounts Payable Specialist

Position Overview

The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for monitoring the financial health of the business. These financial specialists provide administrative and clerical support by processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices, monitoring expenses, and keeping a record of it all for tax purposes.

Responsibilities

Primary:

• Manage or perform all activities related to financial accounting such as: invoicing; refunds; inventory evaluation; management and payment of vendors.
• Enter Bills in accounting system
• Audit for discrepancies
• Pay bills
• Ensure that all bills are paid on time and take advantage of early pay discounts
• Manage or perform all tax reporting and payments such as quarterly payroll taxes and sales taxes
• Responsible for processing payments to vendors in accordance with company policy
• Resolve account discrepancies by investigating documentation on payments, adjustments or issuing stop payments.
• Pay invoices by verifying transaction information; scheduling and preparing disbursements; obtaining authorization of payment

Secondary:

• Work closely with the purchasing agent and accounting manager in the oversite costs of goods sold. As items are received and there is a change in price double check that the price has been updated. This must be coordinated with the purchasing agent to ensure correct pricing.
• Coordinate closely with the Accounting Manager in preparation of financial statements and year end closing procedures
• Assist in the maintenance of office equipment – computers, printers, fax, copier, telephones, employee time entry system, etc.
• Order office supplies and stock the supply room for each department’s needs
• Assist with special projects such as ag shows, employee gifts and customer appreciation assignments
• Open and sort mail

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
