The Dispatcher/Security Officer assists with assignment of tasks for security, and all team members, by monitoring and responding to requests for assistance in support of their respective departments. As a secondary role, the Dispatcher/Security Officer may fill in as, or act as, a security officer, as required to fill staffing needs. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Downstream Casino Resort’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards, and objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Receive and prioritize calls, monitor radio calls to ensure appropriate resources, and adequate security staff respond.
· Aid in making an initial assessment of an emergency or non-emergency situation, and in determining the degree of danger, damage, urgency, inconvenience involved, or service needed.
· Follow emergency procedures to disseminate information to appropriate key personnel.
· Maintain daily logs
· Fill in as needed as a security officer, to maintain adequate staffing levels on the floor, or in any area as assigned by the shift manager/supervisor.
· Promote positive public/employee relations at all times.
· Must possess clear pleasant speaking voice and have good hearing to ensure effective telephone and radio communications.
· Maintain a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within your area of responsibility.
· Consistently demonstrate excellent telephone and radio etiquette, and customer service skills, when speaking with employees and guests.
· Perform miscellaneous office duties, such as typing, filing, computer usage, maintaining logs, answering radio and telephone calls for service.
· Shall ensure the safety of customers and employees while on the premises of Downstream Casino Resort
· Shall be able to successfully complete CPR/First Aid Training Course; and any other training required by management
· Shall maintain the strictest of confidentiality with respect to the internal functions of the Security Department as well as any other information deemed to be confidential
· Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors and staff.
· Meet the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies and procedures.
· Duties, responsibilities, requirements and expectations pertaining to this job are subject to change as needed. Hours are determined by 24-hour schedule.
· At all times acts as a role model and always presents oneself as a credit to Downstream Casino Resort.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily.
· Must be a minimum of 21 years of age or older upon employment.
· High School diploma or equivalent required.
· Customer service experience preferred, with strong verbal and written communication, organizational, data entry and clerical skills.
· Minimum of one (1) year dispatch/security officer experience preferred.
· Must have gone through, or required to satisfactorily complete, the Downstream Casino Resort security officer training program.
· Must have proficient computer skills, Microsoft Word, and Excel experience preferred.
· Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, team members, and guests.
· Ability to, recognize and or, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
· Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
· Must be able to be approved for and maintain a valid gaming license.
· Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
· Work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
· Employment is contingent upon a favorable outcome of a background investigation and drug screening.
· Must meet all requirements; regulatory, operational, or by procedure, to operate at Downstream Casino Resort as a security officer
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENT DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. When on the casino floor, the noise levels increase to loud. Must be able to work in an environment where smoking is permitted.
· Adequate manual dexterity to operate various communications equipment, including computerized radio consoles, telephones, and computer equipment.
· Light lifting.
· Must be able to effectively understand and communicate to candidates and employees.
· Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
· Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino.
· Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment and effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.
