This role will oversee project planning, scheduling, project cost accounting, quality control, contract administration, safety management, labor and equipment resources, and landlord architect relationships as it relates to new and existing Drift locations. The candidate is responsible for overseeing construction projects from feasibility to post-construction closeouts and creating and managing all subcontracts, and purchase orders. The Store Development Manager is also responsible for the ongoing maintenance and upgrades of existing Drift Cafes & Coffee Shops. This role will work closely with internal Operations teams and provides leadership to external general contractors, sub-contractors and suppliers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction project management, with experience in the retail industry.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Plan projects, schedule and execute all new Drift sites
- Select, develop and lead outside resources to including general contractors and vendors
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as real estate, design, and operations to ensure construction projects align with company objectives and timelines
- Develop budgets and be accountable for those budgets
- Monitor construction schedule progress and project milestone achievement
- Schedule strategic site visits to verify that plan compliance is achieved and quality & compliance expectations are met
- Provide problem solving input and solutions to ongoing construction issues
- Maintaining project files and providing project contract administration
- Prepare Test Fit Drawings in Autocad
- Develop Drift Program for future builds
- Order and Project Manage Owner provided equipment and materials including: kitchen equipment, coffee equipment, finishes, furniture, IT and more
- Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership
What you will bring to Drift:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction project management, preferably in the retail/restaurant industry
- Skilled in Autocad
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques
- Proficient in project management software and tools
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations
- Travel will be required for site visits and project coordination
