We are looking for a Catering Manager to join our Montreal-based Workplace team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the cleaning support staff as well as the Assistant Catering Manager. Your focus will be on providing good quality food service while maintaining high standards of hygiene and overall customer satisfaction.
Core Duties:
- Manage the food team including cleaning personnel
- Work closely with the Workplace Manager to achieve overall success of the food program
- Staying on budget and maintaining financial and administrative records
- Ensuring kitchen machinery and facilities are in good functioning order
- Establish proper quantities and place orders accordingly
- Coordinate maintenance of kitchen related appliances
- Set up and tear down of food services (breakfast, lunch, buffet & salad bar)
- Develop daily/weekly meal concepts and menus
- Update menus on company intranet
- Maintain relationships and develop new ones with caterers and various vendors
- Research and negotiate prices
- Adhere to sanitation and safety standards
- Support catering needs for special events for the Workplace team
Required Skills & Experience:
- High school diploma or higher education
- Bilingual
- Minimum 1- year of experience in the restaurant industry or in a similar position
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Capable of heavy lifting and being on your feet for hours at a time
- Proficiency in MS Outlook for email and calendaring and proficiency with MS Word and Excel
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions under stressful circumstances
- Good understanding of food hygiene
- Exceptional ability to deliver catering services within budget and on time
- Strong organization skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
