Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Direct Support Professionals assist individuals with developmental disabilities by providing guidance, support, and training aimed at fostering independence and community integration. This role involves implementing individualized plans and goals and actively participating in the personal growth of those served.

Key Responsibilities:

• Offer hands-on assistance, instruction, and guidance in various settings.
• Ensure safety and sanitation of the environment.
• Support the emotional, physical, and personal well-being of clients.
• Assist with personal care needs and teach life skills as required.
• Engage clients in community and recreational activities.
• Manage transportation needs using agency vehicles.
• Build positive relationships with families and external providers.
• Advocate for and assist clients in leading self-directed lives.
• Handle crisis interventions and health-related responsibilities as needed.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED.
• 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Valid NYS driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work flexible hours and in various locations.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

• Routine physical exertion required, including lifting (25-50 pounds).
• Moderate exposure to adverse conditions.

Education & Training:

Obtain Medication Administration Certification within first 90 days if applicable.

Technology Skills:

Basic computing and typing skills, including operation of office equipment and navigation of software systems.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.80 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
