Salary Range: $78,000 - $118,000 annually

Summary:

DSV Air & Sea is searching for a diligent and professional compliance manager to join our dynamic compliance department. You will be responsible for ensuring our business operations and procedures comply with legal regulations and internal policies. In this position, you will perform a range of duties including evaluating all current and new compliance regulations, reviewing company processes, and leading training sessions. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, with in-depth knowledge of the latest industry procedures and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and implement Customs Team strategic development, and execution of a standardized customs compliance program
  • Conduct periodic reviews of SOPs and audits of branches conducting customs business
  • Seek opportunities to improve productivity across the brokerage operational functions
  • Ensure operational processes and organizational setup support strong profitability focus
  • Promote and support a culture and discipline of continuous improvementin the Customs department
  • Use smart and innovative IT solutions to automate manual processes; drive integration with business partners (internal and external) to eliminate redundant processing and drive data quality at the source.
  • Establish methods and tools for regularly assessing skill gaps and actions to address Customs related Services
  • Apply in-depth knowledge and understanding of all applicable import compliance regulations and requirements, and keep up-to-date on changes
  • Respond to escalated client issues and determine the best course of action related to Customs business
  • Review HTS codes and assist with tariff classifications and binding rulings requests
  • Work directly with and maintain a positive relationships with U.S. Customs and Partner Government Agencies (PGAs)
  • In collaboration with internal stakeholders, promote compliant operations by contributing subject matter expertise and identifying opportunities for service enhancements. Recommend changes to improve overall client experience.
  • Partner with Account Managers and other internal stakeholders to conduct quarterly broker reviews
  • Actively contribute to knowledge and best practice sharing across Customs Services
  • Experience working with the CBP Automated Commercial Environment (ACE)
  • Post entry activities - amendments, protests, claims, tenders and disclosures, etc.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Educational background / Work Experience:

  • US Customs Broker License Required
  • Bachelor's degree in International Trade, business administration, or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in customs compliance, customs brokerage manager, or similar role.
  • Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) and ACE Portal reports

Skills:

  • Ability to establish priorities, manage project timelines and outcomes and meet goals.
  • Ability to respond to complex inquiries or complaints from internal and external clients, or government agencies.
  • Strong and engaging interpersonal communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Analytical skills to recognize, prevent and resolve problem situations.
  • Experience auditing customs brokerage branch operations a plus
  • Excellent understanding of Customs & Trade regulations
