JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Human Resources is responsible for leading the daily operations of the Human Resources Department and transforming the delivery of human resources from transactional to strategic and consultative in alignment with DHIP’s business objectives. The Assistant Director will demonstrate and model a strong commitment to building a high performing, effective team while fostering a culture of customer service, innovation, and quality services for the organization.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide a proactive, practical and valued HR perspective in partnering with leadership on the application, interpretation and implementation of Human Resources policies and practices. Meet regularly with DHIP department administrators and leadership regarding HR needs and opportunities to improve the provision of services.
- Identify, anticipate, and respond appropriately to human resource needs across the organization including recruitment, employee relations, compliance/regulatory requirements, leaves of absence, orientation, and performance management. Maintain current knowledge in these areas regarding internal policies and procedures necessary to provide accurate and appropriate support.
- Cultivate a positive work environment that upholds Duke’s values. Model leadership behaviors and expectations. Lead HR team members effectively toward achievement of departmental and organizational goals. Develop HR team members to be poised for strategic partnering, consulting, and advising.
- Promote an environment of continual improvement within the HR team, ensuring the delivery of high quality HR services and support and timely execution. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide objective perspective on progress, priorities, strengths, areas of opportunity, and more.
- Act as a key change agent to assist in the transformation of HR operations to align HR services more closely with the needs and strategic goals of DHIP. Understand the business, regularly review people data with leaders, and partner with peers and colleagues to find creative solutions to address complex human resources matters.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Work generally requires skills, knowledge, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field.

Minimum five years of experience in Human Resources required, sufficient to demonstrate expertise in: Strategic Human Resources planning, Human Resources program development, diversity and inclusiveness strategies, analytical, project management and organizational skills.

Minimum 2 years experience within an ambulatory setting preferred.

PHR, SHRM-CP, SPHR, or SHRM-SCP preferred.
JOB HOURS
The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
