DuPont has an exciting and challenging opportunity within our Electronics and Industrial business for a R&D Chemist, located in Marlborough, MA.
This position in the Electronic and Industrial Finishing Group is focused on the development and improvement of metallization products for telecom, data center, consumer, and other electronics end markets. The R&D Chemist works in partnership with our global team of scientists and engineers to develop and commercialize industry-leading metallization products that deliver enhanced performance for the diverse electronics markets we serve. The R&D Chemist will focus on the development and improvement of chemistries and processes within the metallization research platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and development of new products, processes, and applications
- Strong background in problem solving, using multiple analytical procedures to identify and characterize product development barriers.
- Lead a project from conception through implementation and manufacturing
- Helps establish project plans, monitors performance according to plan and is accountable for delivering goals and objectives on targets
- Requires minimal supervision on assigned projects or programs
- Documents experimental plans and results; tracks project progress
- Technical presentations at company meetings, technical conferences, and customer/partner facilities
- Assess new applications and opportunities for growth
- Promote a strong safety culture required for a safe working environment
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science with a broad knowledge of Inorganic Chemistry/Materials Science
- Experience with materials synthesis and characterization, coordination chemistry, electrochemical analysis, corrosion science, or design of novel composite materials, with particular focus on establishing structure-property relationships
- Experience with a wide range of wet-chemical and analytical techniques such as synthesis of novel materials, SEM/EDS, and surface analysis methods
- Effective verbal and written communication on all aspects of program activity, including demonstrated ability to make clear, persuasive, concise, and well-organized oral presentations
- Must be able to work well in teams and to work independently with limited supervision
- Highly motivated and self-directed individual with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with employees at all levels in the organization
- Position may require some travel to international locations and customer facilities
Travel Expectations:
Position may require up to 10% travel to customer facilities and international locations.
