Overall Purpose:
Collaborative and integral team member whom performs a broad range of engineering and system planning duties for the General Manager of Advanced Grid Solutions in order to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of prosed pilot projects and customer driven high-profile work.
Job Responsibilities:
Supports the General Manager and team in preparation of all analytical studies for all conceptualized projects. Provide oversight and work with other groups to ensure the timely completion requests by working with System Planning, Asset Management, Engineering, PMO group, Sourcing, and Ops Finance. Performs other duties that are performed by Protection Engineers as needed to help support the modeling and power system analyses now being performed due to new software and emerging technologies.
Education/Experience Required:
Roles at this level require an Engineering degree, but with relevant skills. 10 years’ experience. Preferred experience would be an experienced industry Electric Utility Systems and/or Protection Engineer with experience with 1-3 years’ experience.

Scope:
Responsibilities are generally tactical and basic in nature, however work may vary in type and complexity requiring the incumbent to be flexible to adjust to the given situation. Primary focus is on daily deliverables and outputs, while at the same time developing a knowledge of the broader context in which the work is being performed.
- Support and facilitate all program projects and projects under Advanced Grid Solutions.
- Work with Operations, IT, Regulatory, and Customer on collaborating on aspects of the system which might need to be looked at sooner rather than later
- Increase coordination and integration with internal and external resources to streamline communication with customer relations
- Support DLC’s future grid and support executing the road map by implementing and enabling technologies and applications.
- Create protection recommendations, perform short circuit studies, investigate proper relay operation during faults, provide relay settings, investigate protection conditions, etc. Ensure all recommendations meet all applicable federal, state, local and engineering codes including (NESC, NEC, ANSI and IEEE) as well as DLC standards and review with engineering management before issuing recommendations when appropriate.
- Provide studies, engineering, design and overall project management to help implement work performed in a cost effective manner by DLC Operations personnel and other companies. Assist other engineers in more complex engineering projects where required.
- Proactively prepare recommendations and implement changes that will improve or change facilities, improve reliability of DLC system and/or DLC standards/materials by monitoring industry changes and changes in equipment performance, legislation, codes, regulations, standards and safety practices relevant to the company’s system condition assets and ensuring the assets are up to date.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and other documentation for presentation to engineering management. Effectively interact with and communicate complex engineering concepts to fellow engineers, technicians, and non-engineering personnel.
- Support and maintain relationships with IT, Regulatory, Customer Service, and Operations
- Support and provide technical subject matter expertise in relevant policy and regulatory discussions
