Summary:
Manage the development of the Production place to effectively plan, schedule, and coordinate production to meet customer demands.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities; include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develop Production Schedule from customer planned orders; update schedule as need to account for adjustments made by customers
- Manages transportation area including inbound, outbound, scrap, and non-product.
- Review customer releases daily and provide information to the appropriate personnel/departments; Communicate daily with Operations. Shipping and Receiving, and other members of the Materials Department on key issues and concerns
- Maintains the inventory system and performs inventory reconciliation's. Complete cycle counts to ensure the accuracy of the inventory system
- Analyze customer needs and requirements and set priorities with the management and other appropriate personal/departments
- Complete all required reporting and documentation as required to meet deadlines for reporting
- To coordinate transportation for all non-customer freight, to include outside process and equipment.
- Responsible for monitoring MRP
- Insure proper ordering of steel and steel and components using accurate scrap rates. Review coil sizes and Purchased lot sizes - compare to weekly production needs and make suggestions to management for changes.
- Initiate possible "hit list" for tooling/equipment modification needs to reduce scrap
- Attend daily meeting with Production, Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Tooling to review each day's production activities
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Recruiting quality employees to provide high-quality customer support
- Motivating and supervising employees
- Evaluating the performance of your assigned employees, delivering positive and/or negative feedback, and addressing any shortcomings
- Consistently managing your assigned employees’ timecards, vacation requests, and absence reporting
- Designing and implementing departmental policies, procedures, goals, and objectives
- Evaluating and reporting on department metrics to upper management
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as Bills of Lading, Customs documents, etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers and outside suppliers; excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Competent in working with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
