Job Purpose

The role of the Job Developer is to discover the interests of potential career seekers, explore possible job opportunities with them, successfully place and provide retention services in appropriate employment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Administrative

  • At the direction of the Chief Program Officer receive a case load of participants into the Dutton Farm Workforce Development program
  • Maintain accurate records of each participants career search through discovery, job identification, placement, and retention services using a checklist provided by Program Program Officer
  • Communicate with other Dutton Farm administration staff to report all necessary information for scheduling, and reporting of participants’ work experiences
  • Communicate with Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) counselors
  • Maintain a prospects binder and checklist with Chief Program Officer
  • Initiate communication and take responsibility to move the placement process along until completion
  • Support Chief Program Officer for all professional development opportunities -Initiate and facilitate all details and scheduling
  • For persons served, coordinate apprenticeships and additional trainings if needed or requested
  • Introduce employers to the Work Opportunity Tax Credit
  • Develop a KPI for the apprenticeship program and FordWorks
  • Secure a strong relationship with FordWorks
  • Complete a total of 5 to 7 new placements every month
  • Implement the apprenticeship program at Everybody with individuals outside of Dutton Farm services

Direct

  • Meet and interview new participants on case load regarding their self-determined choices regarding employment in the broad community
  • Meet and interview new participants’ families regarding the participants’ interests
  • Take new participants on case load into the broad community to explore and investigate possible work sites
  • Contact and develop relationships with community work sites that relate to particular interests of the participants on case load
  • Obtain job descriptions from community work sites that would interest participants on case load
  • Spend time networking at local community events – specifics outlined in strategic plan
  • Manage job seekers through the initial onboarding through the entire employment process until job placement
  • Facilitate introduction of participants to employers of interest
  • Facilitate application of participants to community work sites with employment opportunities
  • Facilitate first day of work with the Job Coach
  • Facilitate all necessary paperwork for participants to employer upon hire including communication with parents
  • Substitute as needed

Qualifications

  • Must embrace the mission and values of Dutton Farm
  • Must be able to commit to 40 hours per week
  • Must obtain and maintain required training
  • Have strong interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills
  • Experience working with people with disabilities
  • Possess the skills to guide and motivate participants and Job Coaches
  • Be committed to excellent communication with Dutton Farm participants, staff, parents, and auxiliary organizations
  • Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals
  • Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Communications or related field
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Google Calendar

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.63 per hour
