Job Summary
Data Platform team is seeking a Sr. Scrum Master to join our organization as we grow and transform our Agile landscape. In this position, you will leverage your expertise to lead Agile practices at the team level for multiple teams, assist with managing the flow of work, creatively solve problems to accomplish outcomes, track team output and achievement, and identify continuous process improvement opportunities.
The SeniorScrum Master(Technical Project Manager- TPM)role requires excellent leadership skills, strong technical expertise, and hands-onagileproject management skills. The right candidate will beadept atowning program schedules from design to release, partnering effectively with other teams, and helping with product launches. The Senior TPM will also be responsible for setting programstandardsand expectations and leading and mentoring other TPMs in the team. This candidate will have the opportunity to impactits customers by working with delivering software on a global scale.The ideal candidate is a servant/leader who is focused on coaching the team, shielding the team from distractions, and striving for continuous improvement and success. The candidate is equally comfortable with agile estimation and project planning, metrics-based process improvement, and digging into business requirements/acceptance criteria to ensure that the team is on track.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Practice and encourage Agile mindset and behaviors; coach, inspire and mentor teams on Agile principles, values, and practices while role modeling the Org’s leadership behaviors.
- Independently lead the application of Agile practices for multiple teams. Practices may be Scrum and/or Kanban based. Actions often visualizing work, limiting work in progress, managing workflow, planning and guidance for daily stand ups, sprint planning, short, mid, and long-range planning, backlog refinement, and retrospective meetings.
- Ensure progress toward objectives, KPIs and commitments; guide assigned Agile teams to deliver the required product increments and outcomes.
- Partner with key stakeholders (i.e., Product and Engineering leads) in backlog prioritization as well as tracking and reporting metrics, providing visibility to the team and stakeholders, ensuring a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve team-level Agile performance, focus teams on customer value, quality, and continuous improvement activities. Remove team-level impediments and resolve conflicts; anticipate challenges, identify risks, and recommend mitigations and solutions.
- Utilize learnings and best practices in furthering the effective use of Agile practices.
- Facilitate open communication among team members and stakeholders; promote positive team dynamics to ensure members collaborate and work effectively.
- Build and leverage effective alliances across other teams and the technical and business communities.
- Partner with cross team Leadership on PI planning activities, organizing, and leading PI ceremonies.
- Participate and actively contribute to the Agile Community, partnering closely with Agile Coaches and Leadership to Evolve the Way We Work.
Education:
- Bachelor’sdegreein computer information technology, computer science, management systems or related discipline required, master’sdegreepreferred.
Experience:
- All Scrum Master responsibilities
- Experience in Agile estimation and release planning
- Detailed history of major wins supporting development team goals.
- Hands on experience with Agile process management tools (e.g., Atlassian Jira) is desired.
- Knowledge of the range of team metrics and when each is applicable -- including flow metrics such as cycle time.
- Demonstrated experienceusing Agile development processes (e.g., developing and estimating user stories, sprint planning, sprint retrospectives, etc.)
- Familiarity with cloud-based development and deliveryis preferred.
Certification:
- Scrum Master Certification preferred.
Skills:
- 8 years of experience delivering software.
- 5 years of technical experienceinfacilitating theagile development of software productswith in-depthunderstandingofsoftware development lifecycle.
- A technical background isrequired for the TPM to successfully:
- Evaluate estimates with some level of understanding.
- Understand stories and processesenough to coach the team on splitting stories atobvious seams.
- Evaluate and prepare the required metrics.
