Position Summary:
As a Buffer in the restaurant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operations of the kitchen and maintaining a high standard of food presentation. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all plates and dishes leaving the kitchen are clean, polished, and free from food residue. By working closely with chefs, servers, and dishwashers, you will contribute to the smooth and seamless functioning of the kitchen and help enhance the overall dining experience for our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and polish various plates, glassware, cutlery, and other serving dishes to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and presentation.
- Inspect dishes for any remaining food particles or stains and rewash them if necessary.
- Ensure that all dishes are free from chips, cracks, or any damage that may compromise their functionality or appearance.
- Collaborate with dishwashers to maintain a steady supply of clean dishes during peak hours of operation.
- Work closely with chefs and servers to prioritize dishware requirements based on incoming orders and table turnovers.
- Assist in restocking clean dishes in the appropriate storage areas to facilitate easy accessibility for the kitchen and serving staff.
- Follow strict sanitation guidelines and demonstrate a strong commitment to food safety and hygiene standards.
- Periodically clean and organize the buffer area, including countertops, shelves, and equipment, to ensure a tidy and efficient workspace.
- Notify management of any broken or malfunctioning equipment and assist in coordinating repairs or replacements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the kitchen manager or supervisor.
Requirements:
- Prior experience in a food service setting, preferably as a buffer or dishwasher.
- Knowledge of proper dishwashing and sanitation techniques.
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills to interact effectively with kitchen staff, servers, and management.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as per the restaurant's operational needs.
