The cook position functions under the supervision of and in coordination with the Kitchen Manager.   This position is required to provide outstanding internal guest service, prepare menu items using cooking equipment in a fast-paced environment, manage portion control and food waste and maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards. 

 PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  1. Responsible for cooking and packaging food products which are prepared to order or kept warm until sold.
  2. Operates large-volume cooking equipment such as ovens and grills.
  3. Receives verbal orders from counter staff or directly from guest.
  4. Prepares, washes, and cuts food to be cooked.
  5. Prepares and cooks food according to instructions provided on kitchen display systems or through verbal directions; verifies the quality and quantity of all orders.
  6. Multitasks by cooking several different orders at once, ensuring that all items are prepared in accordance with guest instructions.
  7. Responsible for maintaining quality and production standards on all menu items.  Food must be fresh and of high quality when served to the guests. 
  8. Ensures portion control and maintains appropriate serving temperatures of all products served.
  9. Responsible for cleaning, stocking, and restocking of workstations.
  10. Maintains overall sanitation, health, cleanliness, and safety standards for food preparation areas, cooking services, and dishes and utensils.
  11. Adheres to all relevant health department rules and regulations. 
  12. Adheres to all company policies and procedures as established in the Employee Policy Manual. 

The above-listed duties are not all inclusive.  This position is expected to perform other work-related duties as assigned even though they may not be considered primary duties.   

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

 Experience Required: 

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, preferred
  • At least one to three years of related experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment preferred
  • Must pass a criminal background check

 Skills and Knowledge Required 

  1. Excellent knowledge of food-handling safety.
  2. Basic understanding of or ability to learn basic sanitation and regulations of workplace safety.
  3. Basic understanding of or ability to learn food preparation, and cooking procedures.
  4. Ability to work well as part of a team.
  5. Ability to maintain personal cleanliness. 
  6. Excellent interpersonal skills and focus on serving guests.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Good command of the English language.
  9. Ability to listen to and understand guest, manager or staff requests.
  10. Ability to remain calm when under pressure.
  11. Ability to learn how to interpret and use the kitchen display system.
  12. Good judgment and decision-making skills.
  13. Reliable, responsible, and dependable.

 Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high energy, and physically demanding environment.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, reach and prepare food for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to push, pull and lift objects from a lower to higher position or move objects horizontally, from position to position.
  • Must be able to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing or crouching in narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
  • Must be able to carry loads greater than 35 pounds and exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently.
  • Will be required to use physical capabilities including climbing and ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps.
  • Able to hear sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
  • Able to work in environment with moderate to high noise levels. 
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. 
  • Able to work varied shifts, including evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
