The Role in Brief:
Legal Contracts Specialist
We are seeking a highly-motivated individual to train to become a critical member of our Legal & Business Affairs team.
A successful Specialist must provide top-level contracting support to our sales team in a fast-moving environment, contributing significant business value to contract generation and negotiation. As such, upon onboarding and training here, the successful candidate must demonstrate skill in contract drafting, negotiation and execution, excellent business sense and judgment, well-developed analytical problem-solving abilities, and strong interpersonal and relationship development skills. The Specialist will, as part of the Legal & Business Affairs department, advise and support the sales department in the resolution of critical issues based on evaluation and analysis of associated business and legal risks. This individual must be willing and able to tackle a variety of projects simultaneously and meet demanding deadlines.
Our current opportunity is based in Richmond, VA or Washington, DC.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support contract generation and negotiations with clients and prospective clients
- Assist internal clients in developing negotiation strategies as part of contract negotiation and execution
- Identify contractual and regulatory compliance issues and maintain close working relationship with sales personnel and other members of the Legal & Business Affairs team to develop and implement solutions
- Communicate and negotiate with internal clients to resolve issues and discrepancies effectively
- Ensure contract review, approval, and execution in accordance with company guidelines
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree plus minimum 2 years of work experience
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities
- Attention to detail
Ideal Qualifications:
- Self-starter who also knows when to ask questions
- Proven ability in contract drafting and negotiating
- Ability to understand financial implications of revenue contracts and terms
- Experience working within a team environment
- Ability to take initiative on projects
- Demonstrated success in an entrepreneurial operating environment
- A solution-focused problem solver
- Excellent academic background and a demonstrated record of achievement
- Basic understanding of accounting principles
