The Role in Brief:
Graphic Designer, Design Strategies and Solutions
Design Strategies and Solutions (DSS) is EAB’s award-winning in-house full-service creative team, winning 8-10 external industry awards each year for the last three years. From concept to creation, our expertise is in visually storytelling. We create, manage, and continually elevate two visual brand identities: EAB and Seramount which is a part of EAB (eab.com and seramount.com). We produce high-quality, on brand, innovative creative across many design disciplines, including digital, web, print, packaging, office space, tradeshow, interactive, swag, motion, video, and photography. With a wide range of capabilities, we serve as the creative strategic partner for any EAB or Seramount project.Description of role.
This role is based in Washington, D.C. Exceptional candidates based remotely or in other EAB locations will also be considered.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create print materials for a variety of project types: infographic posters, white papers, invitations, tradeshow booths, swag, packaging, etc.
- Create wide range of digital graphics: icons, illustrations, banners, email and website layouts, social media ads, etc.
- Conceptualize, create, and implement branding for events and campaigns that span across print and digital collateral
- Create, edit, and/or provide design consultation for internal and external presentations
- Interpret and present complicated concepts in a visually appealing and clear manner
- Design and execute projects while ensuring brand guidelines are followed and visual communication standards are met
- Clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions
- Participate in weekly design critiques by soliciting input for your projects or giving input to others
- Contribute and execute innovative ideas pushing our brand forward
- Work closely with internal client and design team to ensure final design meets project’s goal
- Know specs for print projects and ensure files are set up to print accurately at the print vendor
- Coordinate the day-to-day production of each project to meet all deadlines
- Work independently and autonomously while within a team environment
- Learn new software techniques, skills, and tools as department expands design offerings
Basic Qualifications:
- Online or digital portfolio showcasing your work
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Expert proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator
- Strong typographic sensibility
- Extreme attention to detail
- Highly organized and able to multitask
- Communicate and collaborate successfully in person and/or virtually (email, phone, slack, zoom)
- Up on current design trends and industry practice
- Passion to learn, innovate, inspire, and have fun!
Ideal Qualifications:
- 1-3 years’ experience working in graphic design (includes internships, pro bono, on-campus jobs)
- Located in Washington, DC (currently local team members meet once a week in the office and have the option to work as much/little as desired in our newly renovated office)
- Event and portrait photography experience and proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom
- Microsoft PowerPoint and Word experience
