Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

Journal entries

  • Supervise employees by communicating regularly, motivating, and training, evaluating, and planning and directing employee’s work. Directs, coordinates, and reviews the work of subordinate employees to ensure efficient and timely processing of all program functions. The incumbent will develop and implement a system to evaluate the skill, experience, and professional development needs of all direct reports.
  • Manage oversight of all program functions related to the School Readiness (SR), Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK),.
  • Manage and provide daily leadership to various professional administrative personnel engaged in specific project activities. Supervisory duties and responsibilities include interviewing, planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance, employee recognition, and addressing complaints.
  • Develop and administer policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure operational efficiency and effective administration of appointed personnel.
  • Develop and effectively manage program timelines to ensure timely completion of program deliverables.
  • Monitor program activities to ensure quality and accuracy of the Coalition’s work outcomes in relation to contractual and grant commitments.
  • Participate in short and long-term program development and planning and assist in identifying needed changes or enhancements to operating procedures.
  • Ensure that all program activities operate consistently and ethically within the mission and values of the Early Learning Coalition of Brevard County.
  • Serve as programmatic liaison to external partners, including representation of Early Learning Coalition of Brevard County at local and regional meetings.
  • Actively participate in all Coalition and OEL required trainings, conference calls, and meetings to stay current with local, state, and federal rules and regulations relating to SR, VPK, CCR&R, Screening and Assessment and Inclusion and all other programs offered by the Coalition or related agencies.
  • Assist with the tracking of performance measures for the Coalition plan.
  • Perform research functions as needed and prepare and report on a required basis, in addition to locally requested reports and correspondence.
  • Serve as an audit liaison for program functions related to School Readiness, VPK.
  • Ensure compliance with all governing regulations, guidelines, licensing standards, program compliance objectives, and performance standards.
  • Attend monthly Early Learning Coalition of Brevard County Board of Directors meetings and report on waitlist status and other projects as requested.
  • Adhere to the Coalition’s administrative and recordkeeping guidelines to support accurate documentation of activities.
  • Provide data analysis, cleansing, and reporting relating to the SR and VPK programs.
  • Provide technical assistance and support of the Family Portal and Unified Wait List (legacy system).
  • Provide management with ideas for innovative enhancements to Coalition operations. Assist in the research, planning, and implementation of new initiatives that will enhance services.
  • Safeguard all client information to ensure compliance with confidentiality policies and procedures.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of: rules and regulations affecting early learning initiatives; hiring, recruiting, managing, developing, mentoring, and retaining individuals.

Skilled in: strong project management; organization strategy development; community partner engagement; oral and written communication; problem solving; Microsoft Office applications and other data programs.

Ability to: make analytic and decisive decisions while prioritizing and communicating to staff key objectives and tactics necessary to achieve organizational goals; demonstrate commitment to high professional ethical standards.

  • The incumbent must maintain confidentiality on all private matters.

Basic Qualifications:

BA in Business or Public Administration, Early Childhood Development, Education or closely related field.

Solid understanding of and proven professional experience in supervising and motivating staff.

Minimum of five (5) years of related professional and verifiable work experience which must include prior work experience in supervising and motivating staff.

(A comparable amount of training, education, or experience may be substituted for the above minimum qualifications.)

  • Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license and current automobile liability insurance policy.
  • The selected candidate will be required to submit and pass a local and national background screen and pre-employment drug screen prior to their date of hire..

Physical Activity / Working Conditions:_

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Employee must be able to be present at work on a consistent basis, sit for extended periods of time, read, write and use a keyboard. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
