The School of Art and Design provides a multidisciplinary approach to art and design that offers opportunities for students to develop their creative and critical thinking abilities by thinking through making.
The school currently enrolls more than students in twelve areas across four degrees. The School of Art and Design is the most comprehensive BFA art program in the University of North Carolina system and has been continuously accredited by NASAD since .
The school has over 40 full-time faculty and is located in the Jenkins Fine Arts Center, a , square-foot facility with specialized equipment, tools, and technology for the School of Art and Design’s 14 disciplines animation / interactive design, art education, art history, ceramics, film and video production, glass, graphic design, illustration, metal design, painting and drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, textile design.
From computer labs, digital looms, CNC router, and laser cutters to a woodshop, foundry, letterpress shop, black and white darkroom, and beyond, the school’s facilities are comprehensive and available to faculty and students who think, make, and work across the school’s disciplines.
Job Duties School of Art and Design is currently seeking counselors for its first Summer Art Camp for high-school students.
Program will be held on ECU campus. Applicants should have prior experience in working with this age range. Camp running time is from Sunday, June 16th through Friday, June 21st, .
Training days will be held prior to camp week. All Camp Counselors must complete Tedi Bear Training program prior to camp week to be eligible for this position in accordance with state law.
We are looking for the following daytime and overnight staff :
Day Counselors are daytime staff that chaperone students to workshops in the Jenkins Fine Arts Center, and escort them to / from their breakfast and lunch location during mealtimes.
Day Counselors will assist Camp Instructors during workshops and tend to the needs of campers throughout the day. Day counselor shifts run from 8 : 30am 5 : 30pm during camp week.
Dorm Counselors are overnight staff that chaperone students throughout the evening; during evening events at various on-campus locations and at the campus dormitories during sleep times.
Dorm Counselors will lead four event nights between dinnertime and lights-out. Dorm counselors will be provided accommodations in the dormitories with campers.
Dorm counselor shifts run from 5pm-10pm and from 6am to 9am during camp week. Minimum Education / Experience High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related childcare experience;
or equivalent combination of training and experience. License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation N / A Preferred Experience, Skills, Training / Education Previous experience interacting with children or teens (paid or volunteer), such as in a school, camp, daycare, or recreational setting preferred.
License or Certification Required by the Department All Camp Counselors must complete Tedi Bear Training program prior to camp week to be eligible for this position.
