Mission & Vision:

The purpose of Chartwell Center is to aid individuals with autism spectrum and related disorders by providing educational services and therapy, and by offering training and support to parents, teacher, and other professionals. Founded in 1999 by concerned and dedicated parents, the school?s goal is to help its students not only survive but thrive in the outside world. The Chartwell Center became a part of Easterseals Louisiana in 2022. Easterseals Louisiana's mission is to change the way the world defines and views disabilities by making profound, positive differences in people's lives every day.

The Chartwell Center is a center is set up for elementary and high school age students with Autism. Our early intervention program implements Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for children on the Autism Spectrum. Our center is looking for new team members who has any experience or interest- in teaching, psychology, working with children, or special needs services. The schedule is Monday-Friday 8-3:30 with 35 school holidays and 3 PTO days. The starting salary for this position is $30,000 annually. We offer a range of benefits from medical to 401K. There is no travel necessary for this position and no lesson planning. One staff member works with one child to increase functional communication, adaptive behaviors, and social skills. Training and staff supervision are provided. Our ABA and Interventionist work alongside our BCBA. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred but not required. We are looking for people who are creative, empathetic, able to follow plans for our students, and willing to commit to the 2022-23 school year!

Job Description (include, but are not limited to):

The Chartwell Special Education Teacher collaborates with the School Director and her team to meet the academic and behavioral needs of our students. They work as a team to improve the lives of children on the spectrum.

• Model the school?s values and core beliefs
• Set and work toward ambitious behavioral and academic goals
• Implement curriculum designed by our BCBA and Special Education Coordinator
• Use feedback from supervision to implement curricular and treatment changes and to improve effectiveness of teaching
• Meet weekly with team members to discuss current plans, barriers to progress, and potential solutions for increasing progress and guaranteeing treatment integrity
• Deliver community-based instruction
• Actively participate in professional development and extracurricular activities
• Proactively manage student behavior according to shared team expectations
• Engage families and community members in the learning process
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to implement and reinforce all components of a consistently positive, creative and solutions-oriented school culture
