WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN A RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY LEADER

We just ask that you meet the following qualifications:

  • Associate degree in recreational therapy, human services, or a related field
  • 5 years of experience in program administration in a social service agency
  • 2 years of database experience required
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Knowledge of OPWDD and ICF regulations preferred
  • Experience or knowledge of the New York State Justice Center preferred

YOUR NEW ROLE AS OUR RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY LEADER

Your schedule is primarily during the day, allowing you to play a vital role in creating a fun and engaging environment for our participants.

As a new Recreational Activity Leader with our human services nonprofit, you can expect each day to be filled with exciting and rewarding responsibilities. Your main focus is to engage and support individuals with disabilities in various recreational activities, fostering their personal growth and enjoyment. Your daily tasks include planning and organizing recreational programs that align with the interests and abilities of our participants. This may involve developing activity plans, preparing necessary materials, and ensuring a safe and inclusive environment. You lead and facilitate group activities, encouraging active participation and promoting socialization among participants. This may involve assisting participants in completing activities, offering encouragement and motivation, and ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the day. By bringing your passion for helping others and your expertise in recreational activities, you make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities every single day.
