Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll be accountable for the organization, coordination and implementation of site engineering programs which increase profitability while complying with 100% safety, environmental and health performance. You will serve as a member of the Site Leadership Team and will help support the site's Safety, Environmental, Quality, Maintenance and Engineering objectives. You will report to the site manager.
Lead a team of engineers and designers and manage their development and performance. Improve the level of engineering expertise and enhance motivation and commitment of employees in the engineering department to provide a competitive advantage and be prepared to face new challenges. Mentor co-workers and less experienced engineers.- Establish, control, lead and guide the implementation of the capital investment budget to maximize safety, improve profitability and comply with internal and external responsible care standards and guidelines.
- Report on the activities and achievements of the engineering department to enable verification of compliance with Eastman’s strategy and objectives.
- Structure engineering guidelines and project management procedures.
- Coordinate engineering activities to execute the capital budget, support environmental and safety objectives, and support operations in troubleshooting and process optimization.
- Support site mechanical integrity and reliability programs.
- Maintain proficiency and provide technical guidance on use of advanced engineering software tools (i.e., ASPEN )
- Support Process Safety efforts by ensuring that site PHAs are up-to-date and that action items are completed effectively and on-time.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required; Chemical Engineering preferred.- Must have at least 10 years of Engineering or Operations experience in the chemical or petrochemical industry
- At least 3 years of leadership/supervisory experience preferred
- Strong personal accountability and leadership skills
- Strong background in computer applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Experience using ASPEN process simulator is preferred
- Experience with DCS programming is preferred
- High level of ownership in making an impact on plant performance and profitability
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including written, verbal and listening skills
- Be a team player in a team environment
- Must be a self-starter and self-motivated
- Must be willing to respond to call outs and have flexibility to work extended hours during weekdays (including weekends and holidays if needed)
- Ability to exert influence in situations where direct control is limited
