JOB SUMMARY
As a member of the management team, the business manager 1 plans, organizes, and oversees all financial activities and systems in the dining service department in an account between $5 and 10 million in annual managed volume. This role also ensures that all Parkhurst accounting standards are being met in all areas of the account. The business manager 1 makes changes as needed to improve services, increase efficiencies, manage costs, and meet client requirements. Other responsibilities include supporting the management team on reporting financial numbers, processing invoices, supporting payroll activities, etc. on a weekly and monthly basis. This individual also performs related duties as assigned by their unit leader and may oversee office staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Client, Customer and Guest Relations:
- Demonstrates a strong focus on guest satisfaction and accurate reporting.
- Proactively addresses and responds to client needs to enhance client satisfaction.
- Develops meaningful relationship with primary client contact and other key client personnel in conjunction with Senior General Manager.
- Assists Sr. GM and client in making proposals for long term dining plans.
- Reviews financial and other data with client on a regular basis.
- Coaches management team on importance of financial accuracy and integrity.
Financial Results:
- Assists in development of annual budget in conjunction with Senior General Manager for operations and capital equipment needs; helps guide management team to work within budget to meet goals.
- Fully understands contract and ensures both client and company are in compliance with contract terms.
- Oversees accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue flow and inventory functions.
- Manages all cash handling, performs safe and cash drawer reconciliations.
- Oversee banking procedures per accounting guidelines.
- Oversees accuracy of billing functions.
- Compiles and reviews weekly financial reports.
- Prepares weekly petty cash reports. Reviews and resolves all credit card issues.
- Reviews financial data and prepares reports as requested by client or DM.
- Prepares proposals and analysis for operational changes and additions.
Qualifications:
- Five years of professional experience with three years of experience in business management.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field, high school/GED, or equivalent experience.
- Experienced in Microsoft software programs.
- Experience in salary and wage administration.
- Ability to organize workloads and meet time deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal, communications skills.
- Proven math and financial management skills.
