Eaton Mission Systems, formerly Cobham Mission Systems is seeking a Buyer III at our Orchard Park, NY facility.
Summary:
Responsible for execution of buying activities in support of manufacture of all products related to a specific value stream. Responsible for supplier on-time delivery and inventory levels. Responsible for insuring supplier communication regarding material delivery is in alignment with the value stream’s business needs; to employ methods to exercise that supplier capability to obtain material consistent with requirements, and to communicate risk internally to Supply Chain (SC) and the Value Stream (VS). Responsibilities also include training Buyer I and Buyer II level positions to execute these functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Train Buyer I and Buyer II level positions on Oracle functionality.
- Lead Buyer I and Buyer II level positions in determining and maintaining levels of inventory to meet organizational metrics.
- Assist Buyer I and Buyer II level positions negotiate and administer purchase orders in support of production needs.
- Anticipate SC and VS needs and respond to concerns and conflicts.
- Work with finance to address any payment issues.
- Maintain supplier lead-times in business system
- Work with the commodity team to insure that supplier communication and related metrics are in support of the value stream’s needs
- Maintain performance management KPI’s and board and participate in performance management meetings.
- Work independently and react quickly to changing priorities.
- Strong analytical skills utilized in leading at least four continuous improvement projects per year.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree plus 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment, OR an Associate’s Degree plus 4 years’ experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment OR High School Diploma (or equivalent) plus 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment
- 3 years’ negotiating experience
- 3 years’ purchasing experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following areas: Business, Finance or Supply Chain
- Professional certifications (i.e., APICS, ISM, etc.) - Working knowledge of ERP or MRP Systems
- Experience reading blueprints
- Documented MS Office experience: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Demonstrated verbal, written and presentation skills
