What are the responsibilities and job description for the e-Commerce Specialist position at ECCO?
The e-Commerce Specialist will maximize the consumer experience and drive revenue growth on ECCO’s owned and operated website by strategically optimizing merchandising and front-end content creation throughout the full consumer shopping journey. To lead site personalization, attractive product assortment, cross selling, rich and premium product presentation(s) in alignment with ECCO USA DTC (direct to consumer) channel. With a keen focus on business insights/analytics, consumer shopping behavior, and sell-through this individual drives conversion, Average Order Value (AOV), targeting and A/B testing to most effectively merchandise to meet both consumer demand and robust sales goals – leveraging the strength of a multi-device approach.
As our e-Commerce Specialist, your responsibilities will include:
- Defines and executes the merchandising strategy aligned with the overall vision of the ECCO brand and will contribute to added customer value, a strong brand, and maximized profitable selling by ensuring a positive customer experience for our customer base with a focus on full price and premium positioning.
- High awareness of sales and demand goals by brand (women’s, men’s, golf, outdoor, and accessories) and the ability to optimize the online strategy for growing sales while maximizing margin and inventory turn to preserve/meet margin targets.
- Responsible for curating and presenting a compelling product assortment and shopping journey with a focus on consumer behavior and preferences.
- Leverage global and local content to align digital creative assets for website and adhere to ECCO brand standards across all online properties and ensure a consistent look based on brand and style guidelines.
- Utilize reporting tools to analyze effectiveness of merchandising activities, with a keen focus on measurement and meeting KPI goals. Proven methodology and analysis and testing is critical.
- Work closely with Merchandising and US Product team to deliver the most attractive and relevant product assortment for the online shopping channel, with a focus on unique opportunities such as online exclusives, expanded colors, and effective cross-sell opportunities.
- Recommend, set up, and execute seasonal product catalog, publishing of products and content across our site, managing product info in our Product Information Management (PIM) system, implementing site changes ahead of events and campaigns, categorization, and promotional/merchandising tactics to maximize revenue and achieve gross margin and net sales targets. Including management of critical product and inventory feeds and allocation timing.
- Adjust site merchandising strategy and/or execution based on customer feedback, competitor actions, in-stock shifts/product availability, digital assets, and other dynamic considerations.
- Collaborate with Merchandising team on forecasts, buys, go-to-market strategy, and ongoing inventory and sell-through management – includes aligning across the DTC channels.
- Strategize with Senior e-Commerce Manager to seek opportunities to drive conversion and AOV through product placement and positioning across online campaigns – display, email, video, landing pages, cross-selling, consumer reviews, site search, and etc.
- Implement A/B tests and develop personalization campaigns in order to optimize and improve conversion in collaboration with growth and retention strategy.
- Continually monitor site to ensure completeness and accuracy of all content in staging and production site environments, including quality assurance testing for new site features.
- Examine and assess category merchandising strategies of key competitors and best-in-class online retailers to understand emerging trends and developments.
- Collaborate with DTC, Marketing, and other cross-functional teams, including Customer Service to identify and align on key campaigns and seasonal merchandising and site content opportunities.
- Lead projects related to merchandising and content such as site features, enhancements, and testing/bug resolution to ensure fast time to market and minimal business impact.
- Recommend enhancements and new feature enablement through website platform and other 3rd party tools.
- Provide weekly and monthly recaps to leadership and cross-functional teams with findings and recommendations, clearly defining the wins and opportunities.
- Complete seasonal hindsight’s to help plan and execute for future seasons.
- Promotion, campaign, and coupon code setup. Maintaining landing pages and optimize customer journeys to support growth and aligning with the global brand strategy.
- Ensure accuracy of all creative assets, linking, promotions and product attribution.
If you have…
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Marketing, or related field – or equivalent work experience.
- 3 years of online merchandising experience, preferably in a direct-to-consumer environment.
- Premium brand with full-price strategy preferred.
- Experience with web technology platforms/working with a content management system to update pages. Demandware experience is preferred.
- Experience in personalization, A/B testing and targeting is preferred.
- Experience with developing and reporting on merchandising and site content KPIs to drive key business insights.
- Performance-driven mindset.
- Exceptional quantitative/analytical skills necessary.
- Exceptional coordination and communication skills.
- Ability and desire to work at both the strategic and tactical levels.
- Strong understanding and passion for websites, UI and Visual Site Merchandising.
- General product knowledge of footwear & apparel a plus.
- Proficient knowledge of MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- SAP proficiency is a plus.
- Commerce Cloud experience is a plus.
- Ability to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
- Ability to read, write and speak English at a proficient level.
- Ability to travel up to 10%, both domestic and/or international.
