Job Summary

The Associate Learning and Evaluation Officer is part of a collaborative team that works to further the mission and vision of ECMC Foundation through applied research, facilitation, and communication efforts to better understand the process and outcomes of our grant and investment making. This role will support the development and implementation of a wide range of evaluation and learning projects. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of evaluation experience, ideally within postsecondary education and/or philanthropy, and a solid understanding and of applied research principals and technical skills in mixed methods evaluation.

The ECMC Foundation team observes a hybrid work model, working in-office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and working from home on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays with quarterly all staff in-person meetings in Los Angeles. Additionally, Associate Learning and Evaluation Officers travel domestically up to 15% of the time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support a wide range of evaluation functions including but not limited to conducting literature reviews and field scans, development of interview guides and surveys, collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, synthesizing findings in writing and through data visualizations, and facilitating conversations with the program team and other stakeholders to make sense of evaluation findings.
  • Support efforts to find, retain, and oversee third-party evaluation and learning partners.
  • Conduct analysis examining the trends and impacts of our grant making.
  • Monitor annual and final grantee reports for completion and accuracy.
  • Partner with the Learning & Evaluation and Grants Management teams to ensure that the grants database, Fluxx, is implemented effectively to provide information needed by the Learning & Evaluation team to track the progress and impact of our grantmaking.
  • Support the planning and implementation of convenings and other opportunities for learning and collaboration both internally and with external stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of evaluation trends and best practices, especially those in philanthropy and postsecondary education, and attend relevant workshops, trainings, and conferences to broaden knowledge.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2 years of related work in evaluation, preferably in philanthropy and/or postsecondary education.
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods including use of quantitative (e.g., R, SPSS, STATA, SAS) and qualitative (e.g., Atlas.ti, nVivo) software and identifying meaningful and actionable evaluation findings.
  • Possesses proficiency in communication skills, both speaking and writing in a clear, compelling, and concise manner that meet the needs of different audiences.
  • Experience supporting the development and implementation of learning experiences grounded in adult learner best practices.
  • Showcases project management skills, specifically an ability to be detail-oriented, prioritize tasks, execute in a timely manner to achieve goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently, depending on the need of the work
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 15% of the time
  • Commits to ECMC Foundation's hybrid work model

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience with data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, Arc GIS)

Salary range for this position is $80,000-$100,00. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, peer and market data, prior performance, business sector and geographic location.
