ECS is seeking a Senior Unix Systems Administrator to work in our Memphis, TN office.
Job Description:
The Senior Unix Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining mission-critical infrastructure supporting our development activities. The Senior Systems Administrator, working with the Ops and Development teams, is responsible for architecting, implementing, scaling, and maintaining our systems. Responsibilities:
- Monitor, troubleshoot and diagnose Unix-based applications, operating systems, and middleware
- Work with cross-functional teams to identify improvements to the infrastructure, architecture, security, and technologies
- Analyze and support technology transition including on prem and cloud environments
- Evaluate development support focused on improving performance and reducing costs
- Support the implementation, deployment, and management of configuration automation systems such as Ansible, Puppet, and Chef
- Design and implement highly available systems using clustering and load balancing
- Plan, build, and support Continuous Integration platform to support development
- Configure, manage and monitor web, application, and batch servers
- Lead upgrades, patching, and vulnerability remediation for enterprise Linux OS and middleware
- Maintain high availability through system standardization
- Address performance tuning and capacity planning to ensure service availability
- Create technical documentation, proposals, and reporting
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to peer administrators and developers for Unix-based systems and applications
- Other duties include account management, software installation and configuration, storage management, and rotating on-call support
Required Skills:
- Must be US citizen or Green Card Holder and must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance
- A bachelor's degree or 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree and 6 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Excellent knowledge of Unix system administration
- Experience with network design and administration (all layers)
- Experience supporting modern web development.
- Experience in a service provider or operations environment.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced and collaborative startup environment.
- Detail oriented, self-motivated, and proactive.
- Knowledge of and experience with the Linux OS and kernel, patching, and software management
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Working knowledge of networking services such as NFS, DNS, LDAP, NTP, Samba, etc.
- Experience scripting in bash, ksh, awk, Perl, Python, etc.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Performance engineering.
- Experience with evaluating new technology and its insertion.
- Familiar with modern software development principles and technologies.
