The newly formed Faculty Communities are comprised of both full and part time VUSN faculty members.  These Communities will provide faculty mentoring and professional development for its members.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicates on behalf of the Chair with administrative offices, committees, and faculty within the VUSN Community, VU, and external business affiliates.  
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations for the Community which includes but not limited to:
    • Managing and reconciling operational budget in conjunction with the Financial Unit Manager (FUM)
    • Procuring goods and services as needed via OneCard or Procurement Services
  • Coordinates and facilitates meetings, special events, seminars, etc for the Community and the Community Chair.
  • Schedules and coordinates the Chair’s meetings and travel arrangements.
  • Serves as a resource for travel related questions, assists with work related travel arrangements and assists with filing expense reports for faculty within the Community.
  • Tracks mandatory training, licensure, certifications, etc for Community faculty members and is able to report on this information for national surveys and HR related requests.
  • Assists Chair with annual budget requests.
  • Supports the Chair with tracking Faculty Evaluations and performance reviews.
  • Serves as a liaison with VUSN areas such as Center for Research (CRDS), HR, Finance, Facilities, Marketing and Communications and others.
  • Collaborates with Community Chair to complete ad hoc projects. 
  • Other Duties as assigned by Community Chair.

 Supervisory Relationships:

This position does not have any direct supervisory responsibility over staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree is necessary.
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated academic administration is preferred.
  • Attention to detail, ability to organize resources and ability to establish priorities is strongly preferred.
  • Exhibit decision-making skills to respond to high-pressure situations is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, design, plan and execute multiple complex projects simultaneously with attention to detail and a high level of excellence is strongly preferred. Experience overseeing budgets and expenses is strongly preferred.
  • Time management skills to plan, manage, and coordinate the Chair’s activities and major functions strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a wide range of constituents in a diverse community is strongly preferred.
  • Comfort with new technological systems and the ability to adapt easily to changes in technology and processes is necessary.
  • Vanderbilt experience is preferred.
