What are the responsibilities and job description for the Life Safety Technician position at ecu?
Perform corrective and preventive maintenance (PM) inspections and repairs on life safety equipment including fire detection and suppression systems, fire alarm systems, electronic/mechanical systems and power generators and emergency/stand-by systems. Complete corrective and preventative inspections and repairs on established scheduled intervals. Intervals are based on but are not limited to: manufacturer specifications and pertinent NFPA codes. Utilize computer technology and accurately complete all paperwork associated with the applicable systems testing procedures including but not limited to: NFPA inspection forms, system histories, and work order systems for further required maintenance issues and/or parts requisitions of corrected items found during the inspections and daily time reporting. This position participates in new building examinations and inspections, attends construction conferences with contractors and architects and takes part in final inspections of new facilities. This position’s responsibilities are in the areas of maintenance and repair of life safety systems across the campus as well as walk through inspections and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers utilizing bar code technology. This position is classified as an essential position regarding response to adverse weather events. Operates ECU vehicles.
