What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phlebotomist position at EdgeGlobal Healthcare?
Sub Specialty(s):Phlebotomist
- Performs patient identification and specimen labeling according to standard operating procedures.
- Understands the phlebotomy processes and techniques in order to obtain quality blood specimens to ensure that correct decisions are made regarding specimen collection.
- Performs, interprets and reports point-of-care testing (e.g. glucose) and quality control.
- Processes laboratory and patient reports according to standard operating procedure, e.g. printing, recording, distributing, faxing, filing, and retrieving.
- Recognizes problems, takes appropriate action, documents problems and corrective action, and follows protocol to notify the Supervisor of problems in a timely manner so as not to jeopardize patient care.
- The hours are 7 scheduled shifts on and 7 scheduled shifts off. Wednesday-Wednesday hours are 5a-5:30p with the option to pick up 4-7am shifts for overtime. Everything else is correct.
