Rate of pay based on experience and the Teamsters salary schedule.
The Technology Specialist supports staff and students in the use of technology. This includes, working part of the day at a help desk. Working with other techs as a team to take phone calls, organize and close support tickets, and to help create efficiencies in order to give staff and student the best support possible. Other areas include managing, maintaining, and updating computer hardware and software; instructing others in the use and operation of computer applications and hardware; recommending equipment and software acquisitions; and also to carry out the overall mission and vision of the Chehalis School District.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Essential Job Functions:
- Support staff and students by working with the tech team to manage the help desk
- Evaluate computer hardware and software applications for the purpose of making repairs, providing technical support, diagnosing malfunctions and/or recommending acquisitions
- Analyze, test, repair, and/or recommend repairs on all technical equipment
- Prepare documentation (e.g. instructions, memos, reports, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information
- Create software installation packages to deploy to staff as required for instructional or system uses
- Assist Director of Technology in maintaining the District WAN
- Maintain and repair computers for the purpose of ensuring the availability of safe and operational equipment
- Record work done through ticketing process
- Administer and monitor the network for school sites including troubleshooting, loading and updating software, monitoring passwords, scheduling maintenance, completing work orders using the K1000 and K2000 system
- Administer and monitor Google Admin maintenance and support for school year and summer activities
Other Job Functions:
- Maintain back-up, restoration, and disaster recovery as defined in District plans and procedures
- Attend District and building technology meetings to keep abreast of programs and procedures
- Understand and abide by existing District budget, ordering, and installation procedures
- Attend district sponsored professional development workshops and classes designed to increase individual skills and abilities
- Assist other technology personnel as may be required for the completion of work activities
- Participate in various meetings for the purpose of sharing information and/or improving one’s skills/knowledge

Education/Background Clearance Required:
- High School Diploma or recognized equivalent
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background clearance required, cost paid by applicant
Experience Required:
- At least two years of related work experience
- Google Administration certificate
- Prior job related experience in computer and server hardware installation
- Maintenance and repair, and software applications
- Demonstrated proficiency with the installation, management, maintenance and updating of Apple, Microsoft, and Google Chromebook computers, as well as Apple iOS devices
Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
- Ability to work with principals, teachers, and other District staff in implementing the District and School Technology Plans
- Ability to work effectively with frequent interruptions; understand and carry out oral and written instruction; provide effective oral and written instruction to others; establish and maintain positive effective working relationships
- Knowledge of computers, servers, networks and various software applications
- Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying 25 lbs. without assistance, ability to utilize hand-trucks and carts for heavy objects, reaching/handling and the ability to work on ladders and lifts, crawling and under-counter/table work, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception/accommodation/field of vision
