Summary/Objective

EDM’s Fort Collins office is seeking a Designer I to provide design services related to overhead electric power lines. If you like challenging assignments, are self-motivated, want to grow your career, or looking to get into a new field of design, consider joining the EDM Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assist in designing electric utility distribution infrastructure

· Analyze and design utility structures and

· Utilize industry-standard software (PLS-CADD/O-Calc) to analyze and design structural and

· overhead power lines, create alignments and assess structural capacity of structural components

· Participate in project coordination and review meetings as requested by the client

· Develop knowledge of and apply all applicable industry codes (applicable utility design documents, NESC, G.O. 95, IEEE, etc.)

Qualifications/Education/Experience:

· Associate degree in Math, Science, Engineering, or Construction is preferred.

· Experience with overhead, underground, and distribution electric utility design is helpful but not required

· Construction experience is preferred but not required

· Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for a work sponsorship.

Competencies:

· Technical understanding of complex electrical/mechanical/construction drawings or ability to be developed

· Strong writing and verbal communication skills

· Detail orientated

· Positive, team-oriented, and professional attitude

Special Requirements - Pre-employment checks will require satisfactory results of the following screens:

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Work Environment / Physical Demands:

  • This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

· The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

· This is a full-time non-exempt/hourly plus discretionary bonus position.

Salary Range: $40,000 to $50,000 annually, dependent on skills and experience.
