Survey CAD Technician

Job Summary:

The Survey CAD Technician assists in the analysis of boundary and topographic surveys.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares deed sketches.
  • Performs daily processing of survey field crew data.
  • Prepares maps as directed by and RPLS.
  • Prepares metes and bounds descriptions.
  • General understanding of survey drawings
  • General understanding of survey data and topo points
  • Make corrections to the drawings as requested by the senior staff.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).
  • Efficient use of time and resources to provide quality design solutions and accurate project data.

Work Environment:

  • Work predominantly operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.

Education, certification and experience:

  • High School Degree
  • 2-5 years of CAD drafting experience
  • 2 to 5 years experience utilizing AutoCAD.

  • This is largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate both orally and in writing regarding project designs and progress.
  • The team member is occasionally required to move about the office to utilize office productivity machinery such as the printer, copier, scanner, computer, etc.
  • The team member is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • May require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
  • The team member may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus when using graphic design software.
