EDUCATION STATIONS
Title: Instructor - 2023-2024 School Year
Location: Melrose Public Schools
Supervisor: Site Coordinator, Program Site Coordinator and Program Director
Status: Part- time hourly, 18 hours/week or less, non-union, non-benefit eligible, position runs through the academic year (approximately September- June)
Pay Rate: $25.88 hour
Summary: Education Stations is Melrose Public Schools’ after school enrichment program for students. Applicants must be available from Monday-Friday from 2:00-5:30 elem/1:15-5:30 for the Prek program
Applicants must be flexible, positive and confident in delegating and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage daily roster tracking students attendance and accounting for all children during program time.
2. Plan/develop weekly activities in art, gym games, literature, science, math and social/emotional learning
3. Provide a detailed schedule to the Site Coordinator of weekly activities
4. Lead age appropriate lesson plans for elementary age students
5. Work directly with Team Leads, high school aged mentors, and elementary aged students
6. Present expectations that are appropriate for child’s age group and abilities
7. Write reports and assist in student behavior management
8. Encourage youth to positively participate in activities, providing verbal praises and acceptance while providing clear and consistent expectations for children’s behavior
9. Set-up and clean all spaces used during program activities leaving spaces in good condition
10. Demonstrate time management skills and efficiently move the group through daily activities.
Qualifications:
1. High School graduate and minimum of 18 years of age
2. A degree of coursework toward a degree in education or related field preferred.
3. Available Monday-Friday 2:00- 5:30 pm
4. Certifications: CPR, First Aid, Crisis Prevention and Intervention or the ability to obtain
5. Experience in school-setting teaching or as a student teacher or demonstrated experience with elementary aged students
6. Ability to develop lesson plans and demonstrate/explain content
7. Experience leading, prioritizing, delegating, and working as part of a larger team
8. Punctual, Reliable and regular attendance is required
9. Ability to pass a Background Check including Fingerprinting and a CORI

Coordinators need to be able to carry up to 20lbs and may be subject to a sufficient level of noise when groups of 40 or more children are gathered for activities.
