The Payroll Analyst is responsible for processing the organization’s weekly payroll, ensuring all team members’ pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. This position will process a multi-state (45 ), multi-union (10 ) payroll for approximately 2,000 employees in a fast growth company. Hybrid, in office 3 days/week. Location: St. Paul, MN Main Responsibilities: Enters, reviews, and audits time & attendance and payroll transactions in Workday including new hires, terminations, hours worked, salaries, time off, commissions, bonuses, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions Performs calculations for off-cycle payrolls and on-demand paychecks Ensures compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws and best practices Partners with our 3rd party, OSV, on payroll settlements, garnishments, new tax setups, and tax remittance for federal, state, and local tax jurisdictions Prepares audit reports and maintains records of all payroll transactions Provides payroll-related reports to management upon request Identifies team member setup and system issues and works with Payroll Manager and HRIS Manager on a resolution Coordinates with Benefits team on enrollments and coverage changes that affect paychecks and Compensation team on annual merit planning process Collaborates with the Finance/Accounting team on bonus and commission payments, general ledger, payroll invoices, and bank reconciliations Monitors team member information for accuracy and compliance for year-end and W-2s Assists Payroll Manager with annual compliance reporting and by providing records and documentation to auditors when needed Interacts daily with team members and management via phone, email, and Teams to answer payroll and tax questions Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of experience Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal controls, and payroll taxes Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Payroll/HRIS systems Workday knowledge considered a plus About Smart Care Smart Care is a national repair and service provider for commercial foodservice, refrigeration, and cold storage equipment.
