Job Overview:
EEMA O&M Services Group is seeking a skilled and dedicated Wastewater Treatment Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining wastewater treatment equipment to ensure the safe and efficient treatment of wastewater in compliance with environmental regulations. Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor wastewater treatment equipment, including pumps, valves, filters, and chemical feed systems, to control the flow and processing of wastewater.
- Conduct regular inspections of treatment processes and equipment to identify and address any issues or malfunctions.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as lubricating machinery, replacing parts, and cleaning filters, to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
- Conduct tests and analyze samples of wastewater to monitor levels of pollutants and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Adjust treatment processes and chemical dosages as needed to maintain proper water quality and meet permit requirements.
- Record operational data, such as flow rates, chemical usage, and equipment readings, in logs and reports for documentation and reporting purposes.
- Respond promptly to alarms and emergencies, such as equipment failures or spills, to minimize disruptions and mitigate potential environmental impacts.
- Coordinate with other staff members, engineers, and regulatory agencies as needed to troubleshoot problems and implement solutions.
- Follow safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in wastewater treatment is preferred.
- Prior experience operating and maintaining wastewater treatment equipment is highly desirable.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and wastewater treatment processes.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
