What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wean/Finish Fieldsman position at Eichelberger Farms?
Primary Objective
The primary objective of the Wean/Finish Technician is to be the face of Eichelberger Farms to their assigned contract growers. Through weekly site visits, the Wean/finish Technician will ensure the welfare of the animal, while able to perform the primary responsibilities in a safe manner.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Valid US Driver license with a good driving record
- English is not required but will be helpful.
Physical Job Requirements
- Frequent lifting of 5lbs up to 25lbs
- Occasional lifting more than 25lbs up to 75lbs
- Requires a lot of physical movements such as bending, stretching, walking, squatting, pulling, pushing, lifting, and working on your feet.
Work Environment
- Requires travel to finishing sites (local and non-local)
- Loud
- Dusty
- Live interaction with animals (large and small)
- Work schedule M-F and weekends
Main Responsibilities
- Ensuring proper animal care for wean to finish sites.
- Feeding, watering, and conditioning pigs
- Environmental control such as ventilation settings
- Vaccinating and treating pigs
- Handling, moving pigs, and sorting pigs.
- Production data collection and other assigned paperwork
- Dead animal removal
Other Responsibilities
- Maintain facilities in clean, organized, and functional condition.
- Power washes, sweep aisles and remove debris.
- Maintain/Report the repair of malfunctioning equipment or facilities.
- Regular and consistent attendance
- Follow all biosecurity protocols in place to maintain operations disease-free.
- Follow all safety protocols while performing every task.
- Comply with animal welfare policies.
- Other activities as assigned.
