Cake Baker

Elan Bakery is looking for Bakers/Pastry Chefs to join our team!

At Elan, we are a high-end French Bakery serving freshly baked sweet & savory pastries to the niche market in Downtown Newark, known as the home of Prudential head offices and the Rutgers University campus and dorms.

Our franchise’s first location will be both retail and catering to the general public, office associates, and students, focusing on offering unique, great-tasting pastries, a unique lunch menu, coffee beverages, and various bubble tea in a friendly environment. We are a growing franchise, and we will offer excellent incentives to build a long-term career with us here at Elan.

Expectations

• Creative with great attention to detail
• Baking and decorating cake is a must
• Can follow recipes and procedures
• Organizing and leadership skills
• In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation, baking techniques, and nutrition
• Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten-free, sugarless, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Prepare a wide variety of goods such as cakes, pastries, cookies, pies, bread, etc., following traditional and modern recipes.
• Follow the recipes and procedures and, optionally, can add their own touch.
• Decorate pastries using different icings, toppings, etc. to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting
• Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar, etc., and make appropriate orders within budget
• Maintain a lean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards
• Meet with customers to discuss custom-made desserts or baked goods for special occasions

Salary will be decided based on experience and availability. We will offer part-time and full-time positions with sick leave and scholarship assistance.
