What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Technician position at Eldon C. Stutsman, Inc.?
Eldon C. Stutsman, Inc. is located in Hills, Iowa - a short 10-minute drive south of Iowa City. We are hiring for an experienced and self-motivated Fleet Technician.
The primary responsibility of the Fleet Technician is maintaining Stutsman fleet vehicles in a safe and cost-efficient manner. In addition, they will perform routine maintenance, service, and general repair.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain full fleet of late model Chevrolet vehicles including ½ ton, ¾ ton 1-ton trucks and salesman cars. Services including but not limited to lubrication, fluid levels, brakes, tires, engines, transmissions, differentials.
- Periodically service other types of vehicles including but not limited to forklifts, semi tractors and trailers as required.
- Perform inspections, diagnose any malfunctions or defects, and repair equipment/vehicles to restore back to safe, working order.
- Assist coworkers with more complex service operations including but not limited to engines, transmissions, and trailers.
- Willingness to work in other departments if needed.
- Willingness to make product deliveries if needed.
- Willingness to learn.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma is preferred.
- 2-3 years of related technician experience.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Class A CDL license preferred.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently and with a team.
- Basic computer skills.
- Wear proper PPE as needed to perform the jobs safely.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work in a non-climate controlled and shop mechanic environment.
- Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.
- Ability to frequently and repeatedly walk, bend, stoop, climb, reach, push, pull, and lift 80 lbs. from floor to waist level.
- Must wear proper personal protective equipment, safety shoes and protective eyewear, when required.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds daily.
