Overview
Element has an opportunity for a Medical Device Test Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team in Minnetonka, MN. This position manages the day to day activities of multiple projects including: planning, scheduling, testing , data analysis and reporting. The Test Engineer will manage medical device testing projects, using standard and custom test frames across a variety of implants and devices. This position will support our clients’ medical device testing requirements and work with medical device designers and manufacturers across the globe. The key responsibilities for this position include conducting clients' tests, designing and fabricating custom tooling and fixtures, and interfacing directly with clients and fellow engineers to develop comprehensive test plans.

We provide personalized testing solutions and regulatory consulting support to validate the safety and efficacy of our clients’ products at every stage of development, production and market release.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical and engineering leadership, and supports the development of new technologies within a local laboratory
- Interact with customers on technical issues and questions
- Be adept at drawing on internal knowledge as well as industry and/or academic resources in reaching testing conclusions
- Create test plans, including protocol development, custom tooling and fixturing design, mechanical testing, data analysis and reporting
- Running and programming test equipment safely and effectively
- Understand and convey technical requirements to external and internal team member
Skills / Qualifications
- Working knowledge of laboratory safety
- Possess a high level of expertise related to scope, core theories, concepts, terminologies and boundaries of chosen engineering discipline
- Possess a Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM field (preferably engineering)
- Possesses a demonstrated ability to apply academic knowledge within the context of Element’s business
- In-depth understanding of testing concepts
- Can analyze and compile testing data from the tests performed
- Possess strong computer skills
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Have the ability to work on well-defined issues, standard and/or routine tests, without significant guidance or supervision
- Takes Initiative and, in most cases, does not need to wait for further instruction
- Able to decide on and implement appropriate testing methods and protocols
- Leads and assigns the work of others when needed
- Time-management and prioritization skills for handling multiple projects
- Analytical/technical knowledge provides a marked impact on overall laboratory technical capabilities and services
- Adept at managing job priority and work time in accordance with targets/goals set by supervisor
- Under the close guidance of advanced Engineers in the laboratory, works on well delineated technical issues including standard and routine analysis
- Defined work experience has impact on the day to day technical decisions made on timely delivery of laboratory testing services and customer support
- Recognized by colleagues within the lab as possessing strong technical knowledge.
- Has a clearly demonstrated ability to apply an array of testing techniques in a rational and practical style to help examine issues and build solutions
