What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inclusive Policy & Advocacy Intern position at Elevance Health?
Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). The ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of any Elevance Health PulsePoint office, with preference given to our Washington, DC location.
This Inclusive Policy & Advocacy Intern will be responsible for assisting Elevance Health in ensuring people with disabilities and older adults are included in healthcare and essential life discussions that will affect independence and access to care and services, as well as reducing healthcare disparities and equities.
This position is a part of our Lex Frieden Internship program, which is an opportunity for Elevance Health to further develop a pipeline of talent that is inclusive of individuals with disabilities. Named for disability advocate and pioneer Lex Frieden, the internship program seeks to create an experience with values guided by Frieden’s role as one of the architects of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and his role as Convener for Elevance Health’s National Advisory Board (NAB) on Improving Healthcare Services for Older Adults and People with Disabilities.

How You Will Make An Impact
- Conducting policy and demographic research
- Tracking relevant legislation and news impacting disability and healthcare related policy
- Engagement with disability and aging stakeholders
- Planning stakeholder meeting and conference participation
- Reviewing and responding to Requests for Proposals, and collateral development
- Ability to work 20-40 hours per week for the duration of the internship
- Actively pursuing a degree in related area of study at an accredited university during internship
- Candidates pursuing their Master’s Degree/MBA are preferred
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Excellent Communication skills, both written and oral
- Excellent Problem-solving, Analytical, and Organizational skills
- Excellent Public Speaking and Presentation skills
